Survey aimed at adults who use drugs

Adults in Ireland who use drugs are being asked to take part in a new survey, the results of which will be used to help shape future drug policies and interventions.
The anonymous survey has been launched by the HSE, the Health Research Board (HRB) and the EU drugs agency (EMCDDA). It is aimed at people over the age of 18 who have used drugs in the last year.
It is hoped the survey will provide valuable insight into patterns of drug use.
People will be asked about the types of drugs they use, why they use them and how they use them. They will also be asked about specific topics, such as access to drugs, prices paid for drugs, access to treatment and how COVID-19 has affected use.
"We are generally well informed about people who attend addiction services, but this is just part of the picture of drug use in Ireland, as there are many groups who may never present to the current structures.
"What this survey will give us is a chance to learn about patterns, trends and emerging needs that will help to create interventions and harm-reduction supports into the future," explained Dr Eamon Keenan, national clinical lead with the HSE Addiction Services.
The survey will be open until the end of April, with the results shared during the summer. To take part, click here.
