The booking portal for mandatory hotel quarantine is now live. Passengers arriving into Ireland from certain countries from this Friday (March 26) must pre-book accommodation and pre-pay for their stay.
The Tifco Hotel Group has been appointed as this service provider and its Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport Hotel in Santry will be the first hotel to receive arriving travellers. Additional hotels will be added as needed.
"Tifco Hotel Group will provide full-board accommodation services to guests in facilities designated exclusively for the purpose of quarantine. In addition, the service provider will provide ground transportation and security services, as well as health and wellbeing services for travellers, within their facilities," the Department of Health said.
The guests will also be given two COVID tests during their stay.
The cost for one adult to avail of this service is €1,875. The additional rate for one adult sharing, or one child over 12, is €625. The additional rate for a child sharing who is aged between four and 12 is €360. There is no charge for infants up to the age of three.
The hotel quarantine applies to all passengers travelling to Ireland from certain countries, which are considered high risk, including Brazil, Zimbabwe, Austria and the United Arab Emirates, irrespective of their nationality.
It includes those who have transited through a port or airport in a designated high-risk country in the 14 days prior to their arrival in Ireland, even if they stay airside or portside.
People must also enter mandatory hotel quarantine if they cannot provide a negative or 'not detected' PCR COVID test result that was carried out no more than 72 hours before their arrival into Ireland. This applies to everyone, regardless of which country they arrive from.
