A further 1,269 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, along with 13 additional deaths.

This brings the total number of cases here to 52,256 and the total number of deaths to 1,865.

Of the 1,269 cases, 63% were under the age of 45, with a median age of 34.

Some 221 of the cases occurred in Meath, 203 in Dublin, 116 in Cork and 80 in Cavan.

As of 2pm on Tuesday afternoon, there were 312 people with confirmed COVID-19 in hospital, 34 of whom were in ICU. There had been 13 additional hospitalisations in the previous 24 hours.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population in the 14 days up to midnight on October 19 was 279.3 nationally. However 10 counties were above this national average, with Cavan the worst affected, at 909.7, followed by Meath (590.6), Monaghan (402.4), Sligo (355.5) and Westmeath (336.8)

The counties with the lowest 14-day incidence rate were Tipperary (114.7), Wicklow (123.6) and Waterford (154.9).
