Leo Varadkar the new Minister for Health, taking over from James Reilly, who has been shifted to another Department after three-and-a-half controversial years in charge of the health service.

Dr Reilly has been moved to the Department of Children and Public Health in the cabinet reshuffle.

Leo Varadkar, who, like James Reilly, is also a medical doctor, has been Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport since 2011.

Alex White, who was James Reilly's junior minister in charge of primary care, has been promoted to Minister for Communications.
