The Tesco supermarket chain is to remove sweets from its checkout areas in a bid to provide healthier eating choices for customers.
Tesco said it will have completely removed sweets and chocolate products from checkouts by the end of the year in all its stores.
Safefood had already called for all supermarkets to support customers trying to eat healthily by making checkouts sweet-free.
Tesco said customers had made it clear that removing sweets and chocolates from checkouts will help them to make healthier choices.
