Health Minister James Reilly has warned St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin it is heading for 'serious trouble with serious consequences' if it does not cooperate with a HSE's ongoing audit of voluntary health agency pay and allowances.
The HSE is auditing these agencies on their pay top-ups to senior staff and the level of compliance of these agencies with pay guidelines .
Dr Reilly said it was very unfortunate that the hospital had refused to provide the necessary details on top-ups details to the HSE as part of the audit.
He told RTE's Morning Ireland it was clear that people needed to be in compliance and part of compliance was cooperation.
The Dail Public Accounts Committee meets today to discuss a report today from the HSE and the Department of Health on whether hospitals and other agencies are complying with government guidelines.
St Vincent's told the HSE it was not appropriate for it to provide pay top-up details as public funds were not involved.
