Public says docs right to strike
October 24, 2013
-
The public believes that the country's junior doctors were justified in recently taking strike action in pursuit of their demands for shorter working hours.
Junior doctors held a one-day national strike on Tuesday, October 8 in protest at excessive hours.
Talks were subsequently held between the IMO and HSE and proposals aimed at reducing shift lengths and the number of hours worked per week are now being voted on by junior doctors.
We asked readers whether junior doctors' grievances justified strike action.
Eighty-six per cent said yes, while 11% said no and 3% were unsure.
