Operation Asthma aims for better control

People with asthma are being encouraged to get their condition under better control by Valentine's Day (February 14).
The Asthma Society of Ireland has launched ‘Operation Asthma', a new campaign which aims to help people to properly manage the condition that affects some 470,000 people here.
"Research shows that 282,000 of these do not have their asthma under control. Tragically this puts people at risk, as one person dies every week from asthma in Ireland and 90% of these deaths are preventable," explained the society's CEO, Sarah O'Connor.
The campaign provides daily asthma advice, resources and information on topics such as adhering to medicine, quitting smoking, exercise and building an asthma support network.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing information, advice and resources which will help people to take control of their asthma. By Valentine's Day, we hope that people who have followed the programme will have learned to better control and accept their asthma, which will allow them to live full lives, symptom-free," Ms O'Connor said.
Anyone who wishes to get involved should click here or check out the society's social media accounts.
