  • Charities such as Rehab are also to be investigated by another Oireachtas committee, it was announced today.

The Oireachtas Health Committee says it is writing to all Section 39 agencies in relation to their funding and remuneration.

This would include charitable organisations in the health sector in receipt of State funds, such as Rehab.

Section 38 organisations include voluntary hospitals and organisations such as the CRC.

Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer said the Committee would contact each of the Section 39 organisations to invite them to outline the funding model and breakdown of their different sources of funding.

"The organisations will also be asked to outline the remuneration received by all executive staff and the funding source from which such remuneration is derived in terms of public and private sources or the percentage of each," he said.

Mr Buttimer said the Committee would appeal to the public to continue supporting charities and the important services they provide.

"The Committee has appealed for calm from the public pending on-going investigations in order to avoid unnecessary and unintended collateral damage."

Meanwhile, the Dail Public Accounts Committee (PAC) says it will resume its probe of the Central Remedial Clinic's financial operations shortly after it gets a special report on the matter from the HSE.

Meanwhile, charities such as Rehab are also to be investigated by another Oireachtas committee, it was announced today.

PAC Chairman John McGuinness said the administrator appointed to the CRC, following the resignation of its previous board members and CEO, was now overseeing the delivery of services at the clinic.

"This includes delivering the change needed in governance structures and, in that regard, a new board will be appointed, a new CEO will be appointed and that post will most likely be advertised next week."

Mr McGuinness said accounts were being prepared that will be audited with a view to giving maximum disclosure.

"The administrator is also preparing a report on the legacy issues that have arisen in terms of the adequacy of governance and controls, remuneration, the use of charitable funds and issues relating to the CRC Medical Devices company."

Mr McGuinness said the Administrator was working to a deadline of March 31 in terms of finishing up his work with the CRC and afterwards he would give a report on his findings to the Director General of the HSE.

He said the CRC administrator had informed that he was getting excellent co-operation from the staff but outlined some concerns, including the fact that the constant 'dripping of information' was having a negative impact on the staff and was impacting on morale.
