  • A new booklet aimed at teenagers in Kerry who may be suffering from mental health issues has been launched.

THINK - Teenage Health IN Kerry is aimed at young people aged between 12 and 18 and covers issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bullying and sexuality. It is also aimed at the parents of affected teens.

As well as offering information on each topic, the booklet also lists the relevant services that are available to help deal with the issue.

It will be distributed to the county's 26 secondary schools and six Youthreach projects, totaling around 11,000 teenagers.

"The THINK booklet aims to promote positive mental health and wellbeing to all young people in Kerry and it is there to encourage these people to talk to someone and to seek help, information and advice when they start to feel down," commented Michael Fitzgerald, chairperson of the Kerry Children's Services Committee (CSC).
