Key mental health website redeveloped

The HSE has redeveloped one of its key mental health websites in an effort to improve the experience of those seeking mental health information, supports and services.
Yourmentalhealth.ie now provides personalised support options via a search tool that generates information on face-to-face, telephone and online services. It covers a broad range of mental health issues, including depression, addiction, bereavement, bullying, suicide and self-harm.
Launching the redevelopment, the Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, Jim Daly, noted that significant work has also taken place regarding the establishment of an instant messaging crisis service.
"This is in response to research showing that a growing number of people are choosing to access supports in that way. Negotiations are also well advanced with the National Ambulance Service with regard to developing a single telephone contact information line specifically for mental health.
"We are also in the process of exploring other exciting tele-service options to assist professionals with reaching more patients in a more timely manner via the use of digital technology tools," he explained.
The HSE's national director for mental health operations, Jim Ryan, encouraged anyone who is concerned about their own or someone else's mental health, to visit the website.
"Prevention begins with being aware of and understanding the early warning signs and symptoms of mental illness. Our re-developed site is a place to learn about mental health and how to support yourself and others, and to find resources and support services near you," he noted.
The redeveloped site was launched to coincide with World Mental Health Day (October 10). The site can be viewed here
