Junior doctor talks continue
October 10, 2013
-
Talks aimed at resolving the junior doctor working hours dispute resumed at the LRC this morning.
The talks began yesterday in the wake of a one-day strike by the country's junior doctors on Tuesday.
The major sticking point in the dispute is the type of sanctions that should be imposed on hospitals that breach new limits on continuous shifts worked by hospital doctors.
While a range of sanctions has been suggested to date, the HSE has ruled out paying doctors extra if shift limits are breached.
The IMO has threatend to escalate the strike action next week of the current talks fail.
