  • A television advertisement made in Thailand, which aimed to get people to quit smoking, has been hailed as one of the most effective anti-smoking ads ever made.

The ad, which was made on behalf of Thai Health - the Thai Health Promotion Foundation - back in 2012, has since gone viral. In one 10-day period alone, it had over five million views on YouTube.

It follows the premise that adults know that smoking is bad for their health, but forget to remind themselves of this fact.

In the ad, two children approach adult smokers while themselves holding a cigarette and ask for a light. Each adult spends the next few minutes explaining to the children why they should not smoke.

According to Thai Health, every time the ad was shown, the number of calls to its smoking quitline jumped significantly.
