The HSE is set to be bailed out to the tune of around €200 million for 2013.

This is considerably less than the bail-out of €360 million given to the health executive to meet its year-end deficit in 2012.

The health executive is expected to ask the Government for an additional €199 million in funding for this year, the Irish Times has reported.

The supplementary estimate is due to be discussed at Cabinet tomorrow and by the Oireachtas Health Committee later this week.
