An event which aims to show the latest innovative products available for people with disabilities is set to take place in November.

The disABILITY Show is aimed at people living with disabilities and their families, carers of people with disabilities and those working in the independent living industry.

According to Census 2016, up to 10% of people under the age of 45 have a disability and rates increase significantly after the age of 70. The most common disabilities are difficulties with pain, difficulties with breathing, other chronic illnesses and difficulties with basic physical activities.

"Many people in Ireland have a disability and, too often, more attention is paid to the disability rather than the person's ability. We wanted to create an event that not only offers help and resources, but one with inspiration, innovation and possibilities to inform people with disabilities or illnesses and guide their family and friends," explained Gerry Guerin of Guerin Media, which has organised the event.

Those attending will be able to find out about the latest innovations in this area. According to the organisers this is the only show in Ireland that attracts "traders, consumers and health professionals to one venue to discover the most comprehensive supply of opportunities, cutting edge products, services and education specifically designed for the population with a disability or impairment".

Exhibitors are still being added to the event, but attendees can expect to find out about services and products from a number of sectors, including healthcare, mobility, rehabilitation, sports/activities, travel, home adaptations and entertainment.

The disABILITY Show takes place in Punchestown in Kildare on November 5 and is free to attend. Anyone interested in attending is asked to register here.
