Five more deaths from COVID-19 in the Republic

  • A further five people with COVID-19 have died in the Republic.

    One death that had previously been classed as COVID-related has been denotified, so the total number of deaths now stands at 1,695.

    A further 19 cases of the virus have also been confirmed, while three have been denotified, bringing the total number of cases here to 25,231.

    Earlier today, the world's largest aircraft landed at Shannon Airport carrying personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical staff here.

    The Antonov AN-225 cargo transporter travelled from China, making a number of stops along the way, including in Germany.

    The plane, which is six storeys high, was carrying medical equipment and one million medical gowns for the HSE.
