Eating disorder awareness event for Dublin
February 12, 2016
-
An open evening for young people and families who are affected by eating disorders is being held in Dublin later this month.
The event will coincide with Eating Disorder Awareness Week, which will run from February 22 - 28.
Consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist, Prof Fiona McNicholas, will provide an overview of eating disorders in young people. She will be joined by a panel of guests who will share their knowledge and experiences, including Harriet Parsons from Bodywhys, the Eating Disorders Association of Ireland.
Ms Parsons will look at the topic of how to support parents whose children have eating disorders.
Findings from the STEDI (Impact of Stigma on the Detection, Treatment and Management of Eating Disorders in Ireland) Project will also be presented at the event.
The evening is open to those with eating disorders, their loved ones and people working in this area. It will take place on Wednesday, February 24, from 6.30pm until 9pm, at St Peter's School on the Orwell Road in Rathgar, Dublin.
Anyone interested in attending this event should register with catherine.kiernan@sjog.ie or rachel.mc-kenna.1@ucdconnect.ie.
