CUMH to hold service of remembrance
October 8, 2015
-
Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) will be holding its annual service of remembrance for anyone who has experienced the death of an infant later this month.
The service is for anyone affected by the death of a baby whether this was the result of a miscarriage, stillbirth or death after birth.
According to the hospital's chaplain, Daniel Nuzum, this annual event has become ‘very important in the life of our hospital community'.
"We join with bereaved parents, families and staff colleagues to remember those whose short lives have touched ours. During a reflective and gentle ceremony of music, reading, symbol and prayer there will be an opportunity to light a candle, inscribe a leaf of remembrance on the Remembrance Tree and to write an inscription in our Book of Remembrance," he explained.
There will be an opportunity to meet with hospital staff and other parents after the service.
The event takes place on Friday, October 16, at 7.30pm in the Sacred Heart Church, Western Road, Cork. If you need further information, contact Mr Nuzum on (021) 492 0500.
