Clarification sought on junior doctor proposals

The IMO is seeking clarification of proposals aimed at averting a strike by junior doctors over working hours.
The Organisation says the proposals as they stand are not sufficient to allow it to ballot members on them.
However, it said the planned strike action by doctors remains suspended for the time being.
The proposals were drawn up in talks between the HSE and the IMO under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).
However, the IMO says it wants clarification of the proposals from the HSE and greater detail in respect of the implementation of limits on the junior doctor working hours by EU law, including verification processes and sanctions for non-compliance.
The IMO says its junior doctor committee will meet on Thursday to consider responses from the HSE.
