  • The British Prime Miniter, Boris Johnson, has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus), he has confirmed.

The British Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, has also tested positive.

Mr Johnson said that he had developed "mild symptoms" of the virus - a temperature and a persistent cough - and on the advice of the UK Chief Medical Officer, he had taken a test, which proved positive.

He said that as a result, he is self-isolating and working from home, but "thanks to the wizardry of modern technology", he will continue "to lead the national fight back against coronavirus".

Earlier this month, Mr Johnson told reporters that he was "shaking hands continuously" and at a hospital with COVID-19 patients "I shook hands with everybody you'll be pleased to know".

Meanwhile, Mr Hancock said his symptoms are "fortunately very mild" so far, and he is also self-isolating and working from home.
