The Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill has now been signed into law.

President Michael D Higgins decided today not to refer the Bill to the Supreme Court to check its constitutionality.

The President had held discussions with the Council of State on the legislation yesterday.

He had until tomorrow to either sign the bill into law or refer it to the Court.
