A further four people with COVID-19 have died in the Republic, bringing the total number of deaths here to 1,683.

Just nine new cases of the virus have also been confirmed, while three cases have been denotified, bringing the total number of cases here to 25,207.

Data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre has shown that of the 25,198 cases reported by midnight on June 6, 3,322 have been hospitalised and of these, 411 have been admitted to ICU.

Some 8,073 cases are associated with healthcare workers, while Dublin continues to have the highest number of cases in the country - 12,158 - which is 48% of all cases.

"It has been 100 days since we reported our first case of COVID-19. Since then, it has been the collective effort of our health service and general public that has limited the spread of the virus. As we enter phase 2, it is vital to keep up a compliance with public health advice," commented the Department of Health's chief medical officer, Dr Tony Holohan.

Meanwhile according to the department's deputy chief medical officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, last week, there were 16 clusters of the virus notified in private houses.

"If you or someone in your household experiences flu-like symptoms - a cough, temperature, shortness of breath or a change in taste or smell - please do not adopt a wait and see approach. Isolate and contact your GP without delay," He said.
