Almost 40% of workers in Ireland say they have regularly felt stressed in their jobs over the last year, while a similar number regularly work through lunch, a new survey has found.
According to the findings, the vast majority of workers - 86% - believe that maintaining a healthy workforce is not a top priority for their employers. However, 72% said that they would be more likely to stay working for a company that cared about their health.
Some 32% of workers indicated that they would be less likely to ring in sick to work if their employer cared about their health.
The survey noted some unhealthy behaviours in the work setting. At least four in 10 people regularly fail to take a lunch break. And when it comes to work celebrations, only 7% of participants said that their company's celebrations did not include alcohol.
The research involved 1,002 adults nationwide and was carried out on behalf of One4all gift cards.
