A further 318 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Republic, as well as one more death.

The total number of cases now stands at 70,461, while the total number of deaths stands at 2,023.

Of the 318 confirmed cases, 126 occurred in Dublin, 45 in Cork, 28 in Limerick, 21 in Donegal and 18 in Kildare.

As of 2pm on Sunday, there were 282 people in hospital with confirmed COVID, 31 of whom were in ICU. There had been 17 additional hospitalisations in the previous 24 hours.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population in the 14 days up to midnight on November 21 was 109.1 nationally. However nine counties were above this national average, with Donegal the worst affected, at 231.2 per 100,000, followed by Limerick (208.3) and Louth (205.6).

The counties with the lowest 14-day incidence rate were Wexford (37.4), Laois (60.2) and Wicklow (61.1).

Earlier on Sunday, 342 new cases of the virus were confirmed in Northern Ireland, brining the total number of cases there to 49,784. This means the number of cases on the entire island of Ireland has now exceeded 120,000 (120,245).

A further 10 deaths were also reported in the North, bringing the total number of deaths there to 933.
