A further 17 deaths from COVID-19 have been confirmed, along with 788 new cases of the virus.

Of the 17 deaths, 15 occurred this month, one occurred in December and one is still under investigation.

This brings the total number of deaths here to 3,948. The total number of cases now stands at 209,582.

Of the 788 new cases, 315 occurred in Dublin, 61 in Galway, 59 in Meath, 42 in Louth and 33 in Kildare.

As of 8am on Sunday, there were 899 patients with confirmed COVID-19 in hospital, 160 of whom were in ICU. There had been an additional 34 hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of February 11, a total of 261,073 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered - 171,239 first doses and 89,834 second doses.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population up to midnight on February 13 was 277.2. However 11 counties were above this, with Monaghan the worst affected at 513.1 per 100,000, followed by Carlow (368.9) and Dublin (368.4).

The counties with the lowest 14-day incidence rate were Kerry (107.6 per 100,000), Roscommon (119.3) and Kilkenny (130).

Earlier, the chief executive of the HSE said that over 80,000 doses of the COVID vaccine will be administered nationwide in the coming week, which is almost double the number of vaccines that have been administered each week so far.
