14 more deaths from COVID, 539 new cases

Fourteen more deaths related to COVID-19 have been confirmed, as well as 539 new cases of the virus.
This brings the total number of deaths in the Republic to 4,419 and the total number of cases to 222,699
The median age of the 14 people who died was 80 years, while the age range was 59-94.
Of the 539 new cases, 245 occurred in Dublin, 42 in Meath, 29 in Kildare, 26 in Limerick and 24 in Cork.
As of 8am on Saturday, there were 414 patients with confirmed COVID-19 in hospital, 101 of whom were in ICU. There had been an additional 22 hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
Earlier, the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, said that he had been informed by the HSE that over 500,000 doses of the COVID vaccine have now been administered.
In a Tweet, he said that the vaccines "are having a significant impact on mortality and serious illness and the number of COVID patients in hospitals and ICU is reducing all the time".
